Wipak CEO Karri Koskela Elected as Chair of Flexible Packaging Europe

At the FPE Summer Conference, which took place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, at end of June 2025, Karri Koskela, CEO of Wipak, was unanimously elected as the new Chair of Flexible Packaging Europe (FPE). He succeeds Jakob A. Mosser, who has held the position with great commitment over the past five years. At the same time, Michele Guala was re-elected as Vice-Chair.

Flexible Packaging Europe (FPE) represents more than 80 companies along the flexible packaging value chain across Europe. In an environment marked by regulatory changes, increasing environmental requirements, and market dynamics, the association is constantly expanding and strengthening its role as the industry’s voice and platform for cooperation. The election ensures continuity in FPE’s strategic direction while bringing new perspectives on the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Karri Koskela has more than 20 years of international management experience in the packaging industry. As CEO of Wipak and Wihuri Packaging, he is closely involved in the development of innovative and sustainable packaging solutions. With a background in environmental and health technology and a strong focus on innovation, growth and sustainability, he brings valuable expertise to the work of the industry association. His active involvement in industry organizations and supervisory bodies will support FPE’s efforts to represent the sector’s interests effectively at European level.

“I am delighted to have the trust and opportunity to accompany the association during a phase of significant transformation of the industry. Together with the member companies, we will continue to strengthen flexible packaging with a focus on the circular economy, innovation and market growth,” Karri Koskela commented in his first statement as Chair. “I would also like to thank Jakob Mosser for his leadership during two particularly challenging and defining episodes for our industry – the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing policy process around the PPWR. His commitment has made a lasting contribution to FPE’s strong positioning.”

The election signals a continued focus on strategic topics and collaboration within the industry. FPE will remain a platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange and joint action to advance sustainable and competitive flexible packaging solutions in Europe.
