Kendall Jenner Co-Opts ‘Free The Nipple’ Movement To Sell Some 818 Tequila

In 2017, Kendall Jenner starred in a commercial for Pepsi, which depicted Jenner doing Jenner things like modeling. Then, moved by the social activism of the time, she decided to participate in a protest and bring about world peace by (checks notes)…giving a cop a can of soda.

Unsurprisingly, an advertisement depicting a super-privileged white woman hocking fizzy sugar water using the very serious social discourse happening at the time was not well-received. Against a backdrop of social justice movements like Black Lives Matter, Pepsi and Jenner were rightfully criticized.

Pepsi pulled the ad, admitted it “missed the mark,” and Jenner expressed tear-filled regret over hurting people. Lessons learned, right?
