High Desert Vodka Is Definitely Not Tequila, Though Its Bottle Might Fool You

At first glance you’d think this a tequila, but I love the idea of taking design cues from a different, but adjacent category and making it its own thing. High Desert Vodka’s packaging designed by Interact Brands leans into the spirit of its San Luis Potosí origins with a purposeful look.

The label is cut in a geometric shape that feels architectural, sitting low on a tall, clear bottle that shows off the vodka inside. Heavy, blocky type highlights the name “HIGH DESERT” in jet black, while a small gold mark adds a touch of refinement. The outer cases carry the same typography-first approach.

Andrew Sondheim, design director at Interact Brands, shares more about the design and the thought process behind it below.
