Amazon UAE introduces packaging recycling initiative across Dubai

Amazon UAE(United Arab Emirates) has introduced a packaging recycling programme in partnership with Enviroserve, providing 150 drop-off points across Dubai for customers to recycle packaging from their Amazon.ae orders.

According to a press release posted on Zawya, the collaboration aligns with the UAE’s Green Agenda 2030 and supports Amazon’s target to attain net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 under the Climate Pledge.

Through this initiative, customers can recycle cardboard boxes, plastic and bubble-lined mailers, and packing paper at designated locations within residential and commercial areas.

Customers can identify the nearest drop-off point by scanning a QR code printed on their Amazon.ae parcels.

The code links to the Amazon Second Chance page, which acts as a guide for packaging recycling and offers information on electronic recycling and end-of-life product programmes.

Amazon Middle East, Africa and Turkey director of operations Prashant Saran stated: “This programme makes it easier for customers to recycle packaging while supporting the UAE’s sustainability goals.

“By pioneering this service in the UAE, we are creating the necessary infrastructure for more responsible practices.

“Collaborating with Enviroserve helps process recycled materials efficiently, diverting packaging material from landfill and keeping it in use.”

The move extends Amazon’s ongoing efforts to reduce packaging waste, which include the use of machine learning models to optimise box sizing and the Ships in Product Packaging programme designed to cut the use of additional delivery materials.

Enviroserve board member and managing director YS Shashidhar stated: “Working with Amazon, we are making recycling more accessible to communities while supporting the UAE’s Green Agenda 2030.

“By ensuring packaging materials are responsibly collected and processed, we are helping to keep valuable resources in circulation and prevent landfill waste.”

In May 2025, Amazon revealed its plans to install 18 new automated packaging machines across fulfilment centres in the UK.
