Accredo Packaging Releases 2024 Sustainability Impact Report

Accredo Packaging, Inc., a leading developer of innovative packaging solutions for the food and consumer products industries, has released its 2024 Sustainability Impact Report, showcasing its commitment to responsible use, continuous improvement and long-term sustainability.

Since its founding in 2009, increased sustainability has been one of Accredo Packaging’s foundational values, alongside ownership, safety, quality and commitment. For 15 years, the company has powered its manufacturing facility with 100% wind-generated electricity. This long-standing commitment reflects Accredo’s ongoing efforts to reduce carbon emissions and establishes a high standard for more sustainable manufacturing within the packaging industry. The report details Accredo’s continued progress toward building a more sustainable future for flexible packaging.

“We believe sustainability and performance go hand in hand,” said Mike Mazur, President, Accredo Packaging. “This commitment guides us to design award-winning packaging solutions that combine exceptional quality and more circular design with measurable improvements in specific metrics of environmental impact.”

In 2024, Accredo made significant advancements across its three sustainability pillars of Reduce, Renew and Recycle. This included launching new products with biobased content, increasing post-consumer recycled (PCR) content and strengthening internal and external recycling systems.

The 2024 Sustainability Report outlines Accredo’s progress in advancing its environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals. Key report highlights include:

  • Launched the industry’s first 100% Braskem “I’m Green” PE resin pouch with zipper closure, also made from renewable resin, at PACK EXPO.
  • Maintained 100% wind electricity usage (81% of total energy use) in its LEED® Silver-certified manufacturing facility.
  • Increased post-consumer recycled (PCR) content to 4.28%, up from 2.02% in 2023.
  • Reached 8.74% total recycled content.
  • Reduced total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from 184,944.69 tCO2e in 2023 to 179,562 tCO2e, a reduction of nearly 3% year-over-year.
  • Supported the relaunch of the national flexible film drop-off directory through the Film and Flexibles Recycling Alliance (FFRA), co-founded by Accredo Packaging.
  • Received FTA Best in Show and multiple flexographic awards across print categories.
