Ecotact introduces Penta Pak 12.5 coffee bag

Ecotact, a supplier of coffee packaging solutions, has introduced the Penta Pak 12.5, a green coffee bag developed for 10kg volumes.

The new format is aimed at coffee producers, exporters and speciality roasters that require smaller packaging sizes capable of protecting green coffee during storage and transportation.

The bag is manufactured using a multilayer, high-barrier structure designed to shield green coffee beans from oxygen, moisture, oils, solvents and temperature variation.

This construction retains aroma and flavour from the point of origin through to the roastery.

Penta Pak 12.5 features a five-panel, pentagonal shape with a flat base – a design that improves stability and enables more efficient stacking in warehouses and during shipment.

The hermetic sealing of the bag allows coffee beans to maintain their natural moisture levels and characteristics without the use of chemical preservatives.

The packaging incorporates a nine-layer high-barrier film that withstands temperatures from –30°C to +90°C, enabling international transport across diverse climate conditions.

The bags are transparent and retain their shape, allowing visual checks of the contents.

They can also be placed inside secondary packaging such as jute or polypropylene sacks for added protection.

The bags are fully recyclable and reusable, and form part of its wider sustainability programme, which includes initiatives to collect and recycle used packaging globally.

The Penta Pak 12.5 holds ISO 9001:2015 certification for quality management and ISO 22000:2018 certification for food safety and complies with US Food and Drugs Administration and European Union food-contact packaging requirements.

The 10kg format is intended to improve handling, storage and transport efficiency while addressing issues such as post-harvest losses, climate variability and long-distance shipping.

Ecotact operates in more than 60 countries and works with Bolsas Packaging on product design and manufacturing.

Since its establishment in 2005, the company has supplied more than 25 million green coffee bags worldwide.

An Ecotact spokesperson stated: “Our mission has always been the protection of the value of products during storage and transit. With Penta Pak 12.5, we are offering a reusable, eco-friendly solution that preserves quality while promoting sustainability in the coffee supply chain.”
