The agreement was formalised at IIP’s Mumbai campus.

It was signed by R K Mishra, director of IIP and additional director general of foreign trade, Mumbai, on behalf of the institute, and Saurabh Agrawal, vice-president and general manager, Avery Dennison South Asia.

As part of the collaboration, the two organisations will offer a three-day intensive course.

The course is targeted at professionals working in a wide range of segments, including food and beverages, home and personal care, wine and spirits, pharmaceuticals, lubricants, agrochemicals, solar, batteries, automobiles, appliances, and related industries.

The inaugural cohort, limited to 20 participants, is scheduled to commence in March 2026.

The programme will be delivered through sessions at IIP’s Mumbai campus and at Avery Dennison’s facility in Pune, combining classroom-based learning with practical exposure to industry operations.

According to the agreement, the course will be led by senior industry practitioners, academics and thought leaders in the sector.

It is intended to help mid-career packaging professionals address themes such as AI, sustainability, regulatory compliance and shifting consumer preferences, with an emphasis on equipping them for prospective leadership positions.

Last month, IIP opened a new centre in Bengaluru for advanced education, research, testing and certification in the field of packaging.

The facility includes laboratories for material testing, chemical analysis and transport testing, as reported by the Hindu. It will be a hub for testing, training, research, and technology transfer, integrating AI-based testing, data analytics, and demonstrations in smart packaging.
