A recent project of M.R. Snyder’s included an upgrade of an existing Kampf aluminum slitter where new drives, PLC, and HMI interfaces were integrated into existing control panels. The project was implemented to improve reliability for the customer and eliminate obsolescence issues. A Siemens S71517F safety processor was used to replace an obsolete Siemens S7 400 series PLC. Eighteen Siemens S120 drive modules fed off an Active Line Module were used to replace obsolete Siemens Master Drives. A 19” Comfort Panel was incorporated into the main operator station.
