Emily Oberman and Pentagram Turn Fried Chicken Into High Design With COQODAQ

Tavern’s 2024 Client Gift Blends Humor, Class, and Horsies (Oh, and There’s a Pretty Sweet Bottle Glorifier)

  • COQODAQ branding by Emily Oberman and Pentagram elevates fried chicken with a refined wordmark and cathedral-level design precision.
  • A bold orange and yellow palette, grounded by green and cream, reinvents classic chicken shop colors without cliché.
  • Elegant stripes and manuscript-inspired illustrations blend high design with comfort food, creating a culturally sharp, premium fast-casual identity.

Fried chicken rarely gets treated like fine art, which is exactly why this branding system stops you in your tracks.

For COQODAQ, Emily Oberman and her Pentagram team built a packaging and graphic system that treats comfort food with what they’ve coined as “cathedral-level care.” The wordmark is a small wonder, rooted in a perfectly centered “O” shaped like an egg, with reverse contrast letterforms that balance precision.
