The sites are in Erie, Pennsylvania, and Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Both supply high-volume beverage segments, including carbonated soft drinks, water and hot-fill products.

The Erie plant covers 183,000ft² and has an established operating base with specialised equipment.

The Hattiesburg plant covers 119,000ft² and includes a modern layout, a broad asset base and spare capacity for future demand.

CSI now runs a global network of nine manufacturing sites producing closure products and capping systems for beverage, food and industrial markets.

With the addition of the two US plants, the company will increase its production base in North America and add capacity in high-volume beverage segments and related categories such as protein and isotonic drinks, juice and industrial applications.

The deal also fits CSI’s growth plans and Amcor’s portfolio strategy in consumer packaging and dispensing systems for nutrition and health products.

It intends to use the manufacturing capabilities at both plants while introducing operational and commercial measures linked to lightweight closure development, manufacturing efficiency, expansion of CSI’s PolyCycle PCR, and customer programmes.

The company added that the transaction is expected to broaden sourcing options and help reduce supply risk for customers served by the two North American beverage closure compression moulding plants.

CSI will integrate the sites and shift certain production volumes to the facilities during this year.

CSI CEO Floyd Needham said: “The addition of these established facilities to our network strengthens our ability to deliver high-quality, reliable solutions to our global customer base at scale.

“Expanding our manufacturing capabilities positions us to meet growing demand across our end markets, backed by the operational and technical expertise we’re known for. We look forward to welcoming the teams in Erie and Hattiesburg and building on the strong foundation already in place.”
