Luxury color cosmetics brand AORA México has officially launched in Sephora. The brand is working to redefine beauty with its 100% plastic-free, fully recyclable design. The partnership with Sephora marks a “historic first” for the beauty retailer and a defining milestone for the industry, it says. This partnership signals that sustainability is no longer a niche consideration in beauty, but the new standard.
AORA was founded in Mexico City in 2022 by Nour Tayara and Rodrigo Peñafiel. The brand was built on the belief that luxury design, high-performance formulas and environmental responsibility should never be mutually exclusive, it adds. Every product is packaged in tin, aluminum or wood with zero plastic. The products are formulated with Mexican-origin ingredients, including five native chiles, tepezcohuite and cactus flower.
For this Sephora debut, AORA brings that vision to one of the world’s most influential beauty platforms for the first time.
“This is the moment we built AORA for,” Tayara said in a statement. “Sephora sets the standard in beauty, and when it embraces a new idea, the industry pays attention. This launch proves that plastic-free luxury is no longer a niche concept. It belongs at the center of the beauty industry, and we’re proud to show that a brand born in Mexico can help define what’s next.”
Now available on Sephora’s website, AORA arrives with a lineup of category-defining hero products and a cult following, it says. The portfolio includes lip serums, primers, a pyramid-shaped palette and collectible charms. The collection blurs the line between beauty and fashion, AORA adds, embracing the growing appetite for wearable accessories and brand merchandise.
Additionally, the launch signifies a meaningful moment for representation in prestige beauty. Spanish-language packaging and bilingual digital content remain rare at major beauty retailers, AORA says, and the brand arrives at Sephora as one to embrace both. It reflects purchasing power, cultural influence and beauty leadership of Latinx consumer, a community that has historically helped shape trends across the beauty industry.
AORA continues to challenge the industry’s reliance on single-us plastic, it says. Every purchase funds the removal of nine times its weight in plastic waste from nature and is certified with rePurpose Global. The brand’s belief is simple: beauty products should never come at the expense of the planet.
