Valmet opens new service centre in Beihai

Valmet, a supplier of process technologies, automation and services for the pulp and paper industries, has announced the opening of a new service centre in Beihai, China.

The new facility is intended to support the company to better serve its customers in the pulp and paper industry in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The inauguration, which took place today (3 September), was attended by Valmet’s management, industry associations, local authorities, and others.

Valmet business line services president Aki Niemi said: “China is a very important market to Valmet, and we are happy to be able to provide our customers a wider range of services through this new Beihai centre.

“Opening the Beihai Service Center is important to further strengthen our local presence. We will be able to serve our customers better than ever before.”

The centre will focus on fibre workshop services, roll maintenance, and field services, including shutdown planning management.

Valmet’s expansion in China also includes three other service centres located in Wuxi, Guangzhou, and Zibo.

Globally, the company boasts approximately 120 service centres, underscoring its international reach and dedication to customer service excellence.

Valmet China area president Xiangdong Zhu said: “Our customers in Guangxi and the surrounding areas will strongly benefit from this new service centre. With the new centre, it is possible to reduce the response and delivery times and have the needed expertise more easily available.

“Moreover, the Beihai service centre further strengthens our competence in serving pulp-making customers. Our customers are closer to Valmet’s technologies, products, and services for maximised reliability and optimised performance.”

In February this year, Valmet started negotiations as it aims to restructure its Services and Paper divisions within the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region, and corporate functions.
