“This is a highly strategic acquisition for Berlin that expands our presence in Asia-Pacific and creates significant opportunities to better serve Japan-based customers through Berlin’s global packaging solutions.”

Following the acquisition, all employees, management, and locations of Nissho will be retained.

The financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Berlin Packaging supplies a variety of containers and closures, alongside package design, financing, consulting, warehousing, sustainability solutions, and logistics services to a wide range of industries.

Nissho president Seiji Ikoma said: “Through the combination of Nissho’s excellent customer service and Berlin’s industry-leading innovation, sustainability, and global supply chain capabilities, we will bring even greater value to our customers, suppliers, and employees.”

In June this year, Berlin Packaging reportedly achieved an impressive feat of selling more than 12,000 tonnes of recycled plastic and glass packaging in 2023.
