Carton Service CSI to expand liquid packaging facility in Ohio

Carton Service CSI, a prominent supplier in the packaging sector, is set to expand its liquid packaging production facility in Shelby, Ohio, US.

The expansion, to be operational later this year, involves an investment surpassing $10m in printing equipment, sealing machinery, and a new packaging laboratory.

This strategic move aims to address the growing demand for innovative liquid carton solutions and to bolster the company’s workforce by 20%.

Carton Service CSI president Reid Lederer said: “This makes us one of North America’s few accredited printers and producers of liquid-filled direct contact gable cartons.”

The expansion will enable Carton Service to cater to a diverse range of liquid packaging needs, including nondairy milks, soaps, cleansers, lubricants, beverages, and various alcohols, with patents for these unique containers already secured.

Lederer also addressed the recent domestic school milk carton shortage and the company’s ambition to become the ‘supplier of choice’ for liquid packaging.

With increasing government restrictions on single-use plastics, Carton Service is positioning its Cartons4REarth brand as a leading alternative for companies seeking paper-based solutions.

The company’s dedicated gable-top team works closely with clients to develop custom packaging solutions. Additionally, an in-house creative services team is responsible for the structure and design of these packages.

Carton Service’s latest patents support eco-friendly packaging options suitable for a variety of contents, including soapy and viscous liquids, ensuring performance in wet environments without leaking or leaching.

Carton Service is not only expanding its production capabilities but also emphasising its commitment to sustainability.

The company provides Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified products and holds a silver Ecovadis sustainability rating.

“We intend to be sustainable packaging leaders and innovators into our next generation of Carton Service,” Lederer concluded, reinforcing the company’s long-term vision for environmentally responsible packaging.
