Austria’s Berglandmilch invests in SIG SmileBig aseptic filling machine

Berglandmilch, an Austrian dairy company, has claimed to become the first in the country to offer SIG‘s SmileBig carton packs for its customers.

The company has installed the SIG SmileBig 24 Aseptic filling machine at its Klagenfurt-based production site.

With this new filling machine, Berglandmilch will be able to fill products in SIG SmileBig carton packs.

This aims to offer a convenient and stylish packaging solution for customers on the go or at home.

The SIG SmileBig 24 Aseptic filling machine is notable for its high capacity and versatility.

It can fill up to 24,000 carton packs in an hour across five different volumes, ranging from 200ml to 350ml.

The machine’s flexibility allows for the use of both SIG Terra and standard packaging materials, which are mainly paperboard-based and Forest Stewardship Council-certified.

Berglandmilch plans to leverage the machine’s volume variety to introduce milk, cream, yoghurt drinks, meal replacements, plant-based products, and Latella drinks in the new SIG SmileBig carton packs.

These cartons can be offered with a paper straw, a one-step closure, or an easy-opening solution.

Berglandmilch CEO Josef Braunshofer said: “We’ve chosen SIG SmileBig because it’s a lifestyle pack that meets modern consumers’ needs. We‘re excited to be the first to offer our Austrian customers this new pack that provides a unique on-the-go drinking experience in one of the most sustainable packaging solutions available.

“At Berglandmilch, we are committed to providing the best products in the most convenient and environmentally friendly way. Our partnership with SIG brings together our shared focus and beliefs, from recycling and plastic reduction, to using responsibly sourced materials. Working closely with SIG helps us to achieve our goals, including increasing the renewable materials used in our packaging.”

In May this year, Indian manufacturer Hamdard Laboratories’ food division partnered with SIG to adopt its aseptic carton packaging and filling technologies.
