Impel-Stelda acquires Wimco to expand into primary packaging solutions

Impel Services, the parent company of Bindwel and Stelda, has made a strategic expansion into primary packaging solutions with the acquisition of ITC Group’s Wimco.

As part of the transaction, Impel Services acquired the designs, intellectual property, and trademarks of Wimco’s cartoning and tube-filling technologies.

This move positions Impel-Stelda to offer comprehensive primary packaging solutions across various industries.

Based in India, Wimco has been producing tube-filling machines since 1985.

The company specialises in toothpaste, skincare, pharmaceuticals, and industrial products.

The acquisition aligns with Impel-Stelda’s growth and innovation strategy within the packaging sector.

Impel group managing director Pallippuram Sajith said: “Stelda has successfully expanded in end-of-line packaging but has observed a growing industry trend where investments increasingly focus on upstream needs.”

The addition of tube-filling and cartoning capabilities into the company’s portfolio will enable it to address the specific requirements of this industry without compromising product integrity and safety during the packaging process.

Following the acquisition, Impel-Stelda is set to invest in Wimco’s technology and team to further enhance its capabilities and deliver even greater value to customers.

“Our investment in Wimco is just the beginning. Our goal is to take its already well-regarded machines and transform them into best-in-class solutions, surpassing customer expectations in terms of speed, accuracy, and turnaround times,” Sajith added.

Impel-Stelda expects to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction by offering comprehensive primary and secondary packaging solutions.
