SPI and NNZ partner for fruit and vegetables packaging

Smart Packaging Industries (SPI) has entered a global partnership with the Royal NNZ (NNZ) to develop a new packaging concept for fruit and vegetable markets.

Under the collaboration, SPI brings to the table its patented Q-Bic, an innovative packaging concept that promises to cut logistics, material costs, and emissions while NNZ contributes over a century of expertise in packaging consultancy, production, and distribution.

NNZ’s extensive sales and distribution network across Europe, South Africa, and North America will be leveraged to ensure that these innovative packaging solutions reach customers across these continents.

The partnership leverages SPI’s global patent in advanced packaging alongside NNZ’s comprehensive distribution network and deep market knowledge.

This synergy is set to produce a new generation of packaging products that address the growing need for quality, durability, and environmental sustainability in the global fruit and vegetable market.

The partners aim to market and supply packaging solutions that not only enhance the longevity of fruits and vegetables but also reduce costs and food waste, all while adhering to the most stringent environmental standards.

By combining SPI’s patented technology with NNZ’s market insights, the partners plan to develop packaging products that improve handling, extend shelf life, and significantly increase the number of consumer packaged products per pallet, truck, or container by up to two and a half times.

Furthermore, the partnership is committed to implementing environmentally friendly packaging solutions that minimise material usage, waste, logistics, and carbon footprint, aligning with both companies’ dedication to sustainability.

NNZ CEO Len Boot said: “We are thrilled to begin this partnership with SPI. This collaboration gives us the opportunity to offer even better products and services to our customers and strengthen our position as a leading supplier of packaging solutions.

“SPI’s groundbreaking and patented innovation gives us a unique opportunity to improve the efficiency and quality of our packaging.”
