Avery Dennison launches new label coater at Champ-sur-Drac facility in France

US material science company Avery Dennison has unveiled a new high-tech label production coater at its Champ-sur-Drac facility located in France.

This comes as the company celebrates 50 years of label production at this location.

The introduction of this advanced coater underscores Avery Dennison’s dedication to sustainability, innovation, and operational excellence, enabling the company to further improve its services and offer quality labels and packaging materials to its customers.

The new coater represents the culmination of a broader initiative aimed at enhancing Avery Dennison’s entire European network.

This initiative supports the production of both core and speciality label solutions.

The advanced machine incorporates the latest in coating technology, providing increased manufacturing flexibility along with efficiency, and facilitating a sustainable process for production.

Avery Dennison’s optimisation initiative extends beyond the coater, including the construction of five new logistics buildings, spanning more than 8,700m²,  additional loading docks, an automated warehouse, a new parking lot for heavy goods vehicles, and expanded car parking facilities.

Avery Dennison EMENA Supply Chain & Operations vice-president Tim Presto said: “Continuous improvement is part of the company’s DNA. The new label coater in the Champ-sur-Drac facility will allow us to better support the sustainable development of label solutions for applications in e-commerce, logistics, food, wine and spirits.”

Headquartered in Mentor, Ohio, Avery Dennison’s products include labelling and functional materials, radio frequency identification inlays and tags, and other products for various industries, including home and personal care, apparel, general retail, e-commerce, and pharmaceuticals.

In March this year, the company announced its commitment to transition its pharmaceutical portfolio to recycled polyethylene terephthalate liners by the end of next year.
