ProAmpac launches RotiBag packaging for food to-go market

ProAmpac, a flexible packaging and material science company, has introduced a new sustainable food to-go packaging solution.

Called RotiBag, the packaging serves as an alternative to traditional clamshell containers by reducing material usage.

It is available in various structures, including conventional, recycle-ready, and post-consumer recycled (PCR) options.

RotiBag comes with an integrated handle, making it suitable for hot grab-and-go items like rotisserie chicken and other prepared foods, while eliminating the need for secondary bags.

Its fog-resistant packaging ensures product visibility, maintaining the aesthetic appeal of the contents.

RotiBag’s sustainability options include a recycle-ready mono-material structure that performs similarly to multi-material alternatives and an optional inclusion of PCR content, which reduces the use of virgin resin.

These features enable food retailers to choose packaging that aligns with their environmental strategies, offering flexibility without compromising on performance.

The packaging is not only durable and leak-resistant, ensuring freshness and preventing spills, but also maximises shelf space due to its slim profile.

RotiBag also allows for custom branding.

ProAmpac global sustainability innovation director Amir Saffar said: “The RotiBag addresses a need in the food retail market for a more sustainable and leak-resistant packaging solution for ready-to-eat products.

“ProAmpac’s RotiBag is a high-performance flexible package built for durability, making it ideal for greasy foods. Its slim profile ensures efficient shelf display, while its FDA-approved hot fill and microwave-safe features and sustainable options make it an excellent choice for achieving greener packaging goals.”

In September 2024, ProAmpac unveiled the latest iteration of its online pouch configurator MAKR by DASL.
