Constantia demonstrates EcoLamHighPlus runability

Constantia Flexibles is demonstrating the compatibility of its EcoLamHighPlus mono-material with the PMX platform of Syntegon for coffee packaging.

EcoLamHighPlus, designed for recycling in the polyethylene (PE) stream, aligns with the PMX packaging system to offer brand owners with a future-ready solution without additional charge.

A product of Constantia Flexibles, it is engineered to meet the increasing demand for sustainable packaging materials while maintaining efficiency in packaging processes.

As a mono-material based on PE, the product is recyclable and has received full approval from RecyClass.

Additionally, it provides protection for sensitive products like coffee, preserving flavour and aroma without compromising on environmental responsibility.

Syntegon’s PMX platform is a modular solution that caters to the future of packaging with its emphasis on flexibility, sustainability, and digitalisation.

It can process both traditional and recyclable materials, including mono-materials such as EcoLamHighPlus, without the need for further modifications or investments.

The PMX machine can handle up to 65 packages per minute for whole coffee beans and offers a double tube option to increase capacity up to 100 packages per minute.

Syntegon strategic product manager Christina Holm said: “Currently, many manufacturers are actively seeking sustainable packaging solutions to comply with upcoming regulations like the PPWR while maintaining high-quality standards. The PMX platform, combined with materials like EcoLamHighPlus, offers an ideal solution.”

In addition to its sustainability features, the PMX platform incorporates Syntegon’s Synexio Empower, an Industry 4.0 solution that enables real-time energy and resource consumption monitoring.

With predictive maintenance and condition monitoring, manufacturers will be able to optimise overall equipment effectiveness and improve efficiency of plant.

Constantia Flexibles Dach & Benelux – Film & Paper Category market product manager beverages Tobias Acker said: “Our partnership with Syntegon reinforces our commitment to innovation and sustainability.

“With our EcoLam product family, customers have access to a flexible, designed for recycling, high-performance packaging solution that seamlessly integrates with state-of-the-art technologies like the PMX platform.”

In July 2024, Constantia Flexibles and Greiner Packaging joined forces to introduce a fully home-compostable coffee capsule solution.
