Siegwerk expands CIRKIT product line to improve packaging recyclability

Siegwerk, a printing inks and coatings provider, has expanded its CIRKIT product range, introducing a series of functional coatings aimed at increasing the recyclability and reusability of packaging materials.

These coatings are designed to maintain essential functionalities such as barriers and sealability while aligning with circular economy principles.

In a strategic move to reinforce its commitment to sustainable packaging, Siegwerk has also established a new global business unit focused on Circular Economy Coatings.

The company revealed this in its latest Sustainability Report, which showcases its progress in sustainability, with a focus on human rights, ethical supply chain management, and carbon emissions reduction.

The report emphasises Siegwerk’s proactive approach to human rights, including the appointment of a human rights officer and the creation of a comprehensive Supplier Sustainability Program.

The Supplier Sustainability Program underscores the importance of human rights and sustainable procurement within the supply chain, Siegwerk stated.

Additionally, the company has introduced a Business Partner Code of Conduct, setting forth expectations for its business partners’ conduct.

The company has completed a thorough carbon audit in collaboration with TÜV SÜD Industrie Service, validating both its Corporate Carbon Footprint and Product Carbon Footprint.

The company remains committed to achieving carbon neutrality for scope 1 and scope 2 emissions by 2025, with targets that have been validated by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Siegwerk Sustainability and Circular Economy global head Alina Marm said: “Our commitment to sustainability is at the core of everything we do. In this report we are happy to share the progress we made and give concrete examples on how we are living up to our commitment.”

In August this year, Siegwerk extended its partnership with cloud networking solutions provider GTT Communications.
