McKinley Packaging strengthens North American operations

McKinley Packaging, a subsidiary of Bio Pappel and a leader in sustainable, paper-based packaging solutions, has inaugurated its seventh US facility in Lancaster, Texas.

The new 500,000-square-foot plant, situated in one of the Dallas-Fort Worth area’s most dynamic industrial markets, is a cornerstone in McKinley’s expansion strategy across North America.

The site selection process for the Lancaster facility began in 2020, with McKinley evaluating locations in Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas. “Lancaster offered the perfect blend of a business-friendly environment, proximity to key markets, and access to a skilled workforce,” a company representative explained.

The location also provides direct access to rail networks and major transportation corridors, making it logistically advantageous.

Construction commenced in early 2022, and despite supply chain challenges, the plant was completed on schedule. This accomplishment reflects the company’s resilience and strategic planning.

A commitment to sustainability

Designed with sustainability at its core, the Lancaster facility incorporates advanced recycling technologies and zero-discharge water systems to reduce environmental impact.

These features align with McKinley’s broader sustainability goals and Bio Pappel’s global initiatives to cut greenhouse gas emissions and promote circular economies in packaging production.

“The Lancaster plant exemplifies our dedication to combining operational efficiency with environmental stewardship,” said a McKinley spokesperson.

The facility’s capabilities are expected to significantly increase the company’s production capacity, meeting rising customer demand while upholding its commitment to sustainable practices.

McKinley Packaging’s track record in environmentally friendly operations has bolstered its reputation, and the Lancaster plant further enhances this legacy.

Economic and community impact

The new plant is projected to create 125 jobs, spanning roles from production to management, contributing to Lancaster’s economic growth. In the past year alone, the city has added nearly 2,500 jobs, solidifying its position as a hub for industrial development.

“The arrival of McKinley Packaging is a huge win for Lancaster and our residents,” a representative from the city’s economic development team remarked. “This project not only creates jobs but also positions Lancaster as a leader in sustainable industrial development.”

Local businesses and suppliers are also set to benefit from the facility’s operations. McKinley plans to partner with regional companies and engage with the community through educational initiatives focused on sustainable manufacturing.

These efforts will build on the company’s history of promoting recycling, conservation, and workforce development.

As Lancaster continues to attract major industrial projects, its 2,000 acres of available industrial space remain a key draw for companies like McKinley. The city’s ongoing growth reflects its ability to balance economic opportunity with environmental responsibility.
