FANCL launches reusable skincare packaging line

Japanese cosmetics company FANCL has unveiled a new skincare line named toiro via its reusable packaging made with Eastman’s Tritan copolyester.

The brand offers consumers a sustainable option with a reusable primary package and refillable cartridges.

Customers can purchase a shatterproof Tritan cosmetic bottle and cap once and then continue to buy refill cartridges for it, reducing plastic waste.

Eastman Cosmetic Packaging market manager Tara Cary said: “FANCL needed a material that could check a lot of boxes for this new line.

“From durability and chemical resistance to aesthetics, Tritan addressed all those challenges. We love working with brands like FANCL who are committed to making sustainable products without compromise.”

In January 2025, Eastman, a global speciality materials company, announced that eight of its copolyester resins, including its ‘Renew’ grades with recycled content, received RecyClass Recyclability Approvals.

According to FANCL, Tritan has been an ideal material, offering quality packaging and reusability, helping customers make their skincare routine more sustainable.

By choosing Eastman’s Tritan copolyester for its packaging, FANCL ensures that the toiro bottles are not only durable and resistant to breakage but also maintain the integrity of its preservative-free skincare formulations.

This move by FANCL is a significant step in reducing the environmental impact of single-use plastics by offering a reusable alternative that keeps waste out of landfills.
