Milkadamia Flat Packs Reduce Packaging Waste and Carbon Emissions With DIY Oat Milk Sheets

Oatmilk is a relatively new addition to the ever-expanding list of moo juice alternatives, and it has quickly surged in popularity thanks in part to its creamy consistency that rivals dairy.

There are sustainable advantages to oat milk over cow’s milk, too. A glass of oat milk generates the equivalent of 0.22kg of CO2 versus 0.8kg produced by cow’s milk. Oat milk also requires significantly less water than cow’s milk; a liter requires 1,050 liters of water versus 28 liters of oat milk.

Plant-based milk brand Milkadamia has appeared to further reduce the carbon footprint of oat milk with its Flat-Pack oat milk sheets. Instead of shipping liquid oat milk, the flat pack contains eight sheets, each making 8 ounces. Milkadamia describes the sheets as “2D printed,” cutting packaging waste by 94% and reducing weight by 85%.
