Sustainable chemical company Indorama Ventures has collaborated with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and the BMA’s Department of Education to host the PET (polyethylene terephthalate) Youth Camp for Sustainable Plastic Management programme in Thailand.
Teachers and students were taught about different types of packaging waste, plastics and recycling innovation to address the global plastic waste problem.

Participants also visited Wongpanit Suvarnabhumi recycling station to gain hands-on experience in waste management and PET recycling and learn about waste sorting and the value of PET waste.
The station has a quality management system certification under the globally recognised ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) Standard 9001:2015.
The students received additional training on communication and leadership skills so that they can lead change in their schools and communities.
The PET Youth Camp for Sustainable Plastic Management programme is part of the country’s second year of implementation of the Sustainable Plastic Waste Management project, which aims to reach to educate 40,000 students at 337 BMA schools by 2025.
Indorama Ventures recently secured a seven-year loan of $200m to bolster its strategic sustainability programmes across India, Indonesia and Thailand.
