Roberts Mart announces further £3.2m machinery investment for Leeds facility

Roberts Mart has announced a further investment of £3.2m ($4.29m) in new machinery for its Leeds-based facility, following a significant investment last year in both machinery and site facilities.

Roberts Mart supplies packaging solutions for brands throughout the UK and Europe, mainly in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector.

The family-owned and managed company, which was founded in 1852, has heavily invested in high-tech machinery, including a new laminator from Nordmeccanica, a ‘Joker’ bag machine scheduled for installation next month.

A stand-up pouch conversion machine from Karlville in Switzerland is also due to arrive later in the year.

Additionally, a three-layer Optimex film extruder from Windmöller & Hölscher is set to be installed in February 2026. The line is said to produce high-quality film, offering increased output rates and improved flexibility for use with all types of polyethylene, including recycled materials.

Roberts Mart, which employs more than 245 people, said the investment in new machines will support its growth in the markets it serves, especially the food and drink sectors.

Roberts Mart marketing director Ben Roberts said: “Staying ahead of the competition and investing in the future is a fundamental part of our business strategy.

“These significant investments demonstrate the firm’s commitment to developing and offering customers a wide range of innovative packaging solutions that fit budget and sustainability goals.”

Roberts Mart has also purchased several pieces of ancillary equipment, including an automatic labeller for applying radio-frequency identification labels on bags and a continuous sealer for adding heat seals to film on the reel applications.

The company’s turnover is anticipated to reach more than £53m by the end of this year.
