Sappi Europe to Present Flexible Packaging Solutions at FACHPACK

From September 23-25, 2025, Sappi Europe will present its most comprehensive portfolio of sustainable flexible packaging solutions at FACHPACK in Nuremberg, Germany. Sappi will promote Guard Pro OHS and introduce Guard Pro OMH and Guard Duo, barrier papers crafted to meet the packaging needs for food, and especially confectionery applications such as chocolate, while demonstrating its leadership in future-proof paper packaging under the theme “Future-Proof Paper Packaging.”

Flexible packaging takes center stage with Guard Pro OHS

As the main highlight of Sappi’s FACHPACK presence, Sappi’s flexible packaging portfolio showcases one of the industry’s broadest range of recyclable, mono-material papers. Sappi has strategically organized its offering into three distinct segments to meet diverse market needs.

The SEAL range delivers heat-sealable papers designed for primary and secondary food and non-food packaging applications. These recyclable papers, which offer excellent heat sealability and printability, include Seal (Silk, Silk G) and Seal Light (Natural, Gloss). The GUARD range provides essential barrier protection against water vapor, grease, and mineral oil with or without heat-sealability, featuring Guard M, Guard MS, Guard Duo, and Guard Twist variants. These papers are designed for products and packaging types that require good barrier properties, such as baking powder, pasta, rice, cereals, sweets, chocolate, ice cream cones/sleeves, tea, etc.

The GUARD PRO range with Guard Pro OHS, Guard Pro OHG, AvantGuard and with the upcoming product Guard Pro OMH represents Sappi’s most advanced high-barrier papers, offering protection against oxygen, water vapor, grease, and MOSH/MOAH with or without heat-sealability. At FACHPACK 2025, Sappi will promote Guard Pro OHS, available in both Gloss and Natural (uncoated) versions. This launch follows last year’s introduction, marking the paper’s full commercial availability. In addition, Sappi will introduce the new high barrier paper Guard Pro OMH to the market. All these high barrier papers are designed for products that require utmost barrier properties, such as all kinds of chocolate products, powder coffee additives, tea, seasonings, soluble drinks, cheese, etc.

Diverse portfolio meets evolving market demands

“Our flexible packaging portfolio represents the future of sustainable packaging,” explains Filip van Ranst, Sales Director Flexible Packaging at Sappi Europe. “With proven, recyclable solutions that don’t compromise on performance whilst keeping total cost of ownership in balance. We provide customers with the exact paper solution for their specific demands and application needs whilst supporting their sustainability goals.”

Beyond its flexible packaging portfolio, Sappi will present select offerings from its containerboard and paperboard solutions. The Algro Design range offers premium packaging substrates with superior printability and visual appeal for luxury applications, while Algro Volume combines this immaculate look and feel with enhanced stiffness and boosted bulk. The Fusion liner portfolio delivers strong shelf impact and ensures consistent product branding across a wide range of applications using flexographic, offset, and digital printing techniques. Wet glue label papers, including the Parade Label Pro and Parade Label WS ranges for the food and beverage industry, complete the extensive display.

Unique booth experience brings packaging innovation to life

All Sappi papers are manufactured from renewable resources, are recyclable in the paper waste stream as mono-materials and are suitable for direct food contact. The complete range is available as FSC Mix Credit (FSC™-C015022) or 100% PEFC certified (PEFC/07-32-76) on request and subject to availability, supporting Sappi’s commitment to sustainable forest management.

Visitors to Sappi’s booth 306 at hall 4A will experience a unique department store concept with product displays and screens showcasing real-world applications. Attendees can participate in a prize draw for the chance to win Sappi’s Arboro board game, creating an engaging environment to explore Sappi’s sustainable packaging solutions.
