Blue Bell ice cream pulled from US shelves after packaging blunder

Blue Bell Creameries in the United States has issued a voluntary recall after a packaging error caused nut-containing ice cream to be sold under the wrong label, creating a dangerous situation for people with nut allergies.

What happened and what’s at risk

A batch of Moo-llennium Crunch ice cream, which contains almonds, walnuts, and pecans, was mistakenly placed into cartons labelled as Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. While the lids correctly displayed Moo-llennium Crunch, the mislabelled cartons risked misleading consumers.
