Veritiv buys S Walter’s packaging distribution division


Packaging solutions company Veritiv Operating Company has purchased the packaging distribution division of S Walter Packaging.

Established in 1904, S Walter offers custom packaging solutions to the retail, hospitality, food and beverage, and fashion markets.

The company employs 110 people and operates facilities in Trevose and Shoemakersville, Pennsylvania.

S Walter senior vice-president and chief operations officer Rob Cunningham stated: “Becoming part of the Veritiv team marks an exciting new chapter for S Walter, expanding our reach with Veritiv’s strengths in packaging distribution, automation, design and fulfillment service.

“The road ahead is full of opportunity, and I’m confident that our combined strengths will deliver even greater value to our customers,” added Gordon Summerfield, senior vice-president of sales and marketing for S.Walter.”

Integrating S Walter into Veritiv’s operations is expected to enhance the company’s direct-to-store services and bolster its multi-brand kitting and premium packaging capabilities.

This move is also anticipated to help Veritiv provide solutions tailored to the demands of contemporary brands and retailers.

Veritiv CEO Sal Abbate stated: “This acquisition supports Veritiv’s strategy to grow our core speciality packaging business, particularly in high-value segments such as retail packaging.

“S Walter brings a long-standing customer base, and together we will continue to grow in our ability to serve premium brands with speed, customisation and innovation.”

Legal counsel for Veritiv during this acquisition was provided by McDermott Will & Schulte.

Veritiv Operating Company, headquartered in Atlanta, is a full-service provider of packaging solutions, as well as JanSan, hygiene, print and publishing products and services.

It has distribution centres primarily located in the US and Mexico, alongside additional resources and personnel worldwide to support its customers’ success.

In December 2024, Veritiv acquired Orora Packaging Solutions (OPS) to enhance its speciality packaging distribution capabilities, and OPS’s 3,000 employees, customers and suppliers became part of Veritiv.
