Circular economy company Syklo has appointed Prevas Finland as the electrical, instrumentation and control partner for its new plastic recycling facility in Hyvinkaa, Finland.

The new plant is designed to enhance the country’s plastic recycling capabilities by 50%, converting plastic waste into valuable resources through advanced treatment processes.

Prevas will be tasked with developing efficient control systems to support the plant’s operations.

Prevas Finland president Juha Ritala stated: “We’re truly proud of the trust Syklo has placed in us.

“This collaboration is an exciting step in the green transition – and we see it as the beginning of a long-term partnership, where Prevas’ broad expertise in industrial automation, digitalisation and sustainability-driven solutions can support Syklo’s future growth.”

In February 2025, Syklo announced an investment between €70m ($73.3m) and €80m to establish a circular economy production hub in Hyvinkaa.

This facility will integrate advanced plastic recycling and biocomposite manufacturing technologies, aiming for carbon neutrality and reduced energy consumption. Operations are expected to begin in early 2026.

Syklo has partnered Impact Recycling, a Scottish company, to enhance its plastic recycling capabilities.

The collaboration introduces patented technologies, including a method for separating black plastics – a significant challenge in the industry.

Syklo provides waste management solutions and converts waste into value products, including biocomposites and recycled plastic pellets, which assist businesses in lowering carbon emissions.
