This has been a big year for Clean Cult, the company dedicated to offering cleaning products in paper-based packaging as an alternative to plastic.
Clean Cult has launched its cleaning products nationwide at three big-name retailers—Target, Costco, and Whole Foods.
“It’s really validating because it’s finally supporting the fact that people do want to reduce plastic. They are willing to adopt cartons in these categories,” Lupberger says, adding that “cartons are some of the most sustainable packaging materials in the market today.”
However, the road to paper-based packaging for cleaning products wasn’t easy. For example, manufacturers won’t run non-food products on food packaging machines. This forced Lupberger to do his own research on which packaging and filling machines would be most suitable for the products that Clean Cult wanted to offer.
