Becoming part of FFRA will bolster Gearec for GREEN’s commitment to sustainability and circularity.

It will work with industry partners to increase recycling prospects for plastic films such as bags, wraps and other polyethylene materials.

The company will share its experience in data technology, covering blockchain traceability, transparency and carbon inset monetisation, instant rewards for recycling, traceability verification implementation and advanced recycling technologies.

It will also share expertise on plastic bag circularity into products such as furniture and fixtures, and onsite sustainability at industry events.

It will also support the recently launched Plastic Film Recycling Directory, a resource designed to help businesses, municipalities and consumers locate recycling programmes and facilities that accept flexible films.

In January 2025, the Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) endorsed the launch of the FFRA’s Plastic Film Recycling Directory.

The directory aims to streamline the recycling process for flexible film materials by connecting businesses, municipalities and consumers with recycling programmes and facilities, and helps identify partners and facilities that accept a range of flexible film materials such as plastic bags, wraps and other polyethylene-based films.

Plastics Industry Association senior vice president of sustainability and policy Patrick Krieger stated: “FFRA’s mission is to drive real progress in plastic film recycling by increasing awareness, access and confidence in recycling programmes. The support of companies like Geared for GREEN is instrumental in achieving our goals and ensuring that more flexible plastics are successfully recycled.”
