With strong oxygen and moisture barrier properties, the product is compatible with existing recycling streams.

The technology supports mono-material structures, enabling packaging manufacturers to meet performance needs while adhering to circular economy objectives.

Developed in association with FPInnovations, CelluShield safeguards food, pharmaceuticals and other sensitive products without using harmful chemicals or complex multilayer laminates.

Key attributes include high barrier performance and a recyclable mono-material design, supporting polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), or polyethylene terephthalate (PET) structures that comply with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) standards.

The product is described as safe and renewable, and PFAS, VOCs and chlorine-free.

Designed for easy integration, CelluShield can be applied via reverse gravure [applied with an engraved roller] coating and works with standard lamination processes for PE, PP and PET films.

It is offered as a ready-to-use coating for in-house application or as pre-coated film to streamline supply chain processes.

CelluForce president and CEO Sébastien Corbeil stated: “Brand owners and converters no longer need to choose between performance and recyclability.

“CelluShield delivers a practical solution that protects products, reduces carbon footprint and simplifies recycling while using a water-based technology that runs on existing equipment.”
