Shelf Life 083: Gigantic’s Redesign Wants You To Chainsmoke Candy Bars


A few weeks ago, I wrote about how cigarette-inspired packaging is suddenly everywhere. We’re seeing it happen in food and beverage, and beauty, places you likely wouldn’t expect. Perfume samples, tea, and drug test strips are all sliding out of slim boxes that open and shut with a little thrill and the notion of a vice. Even on Pinterest Trends, the search term “cigarette aesthetic” has grown over the past year. 

After publishing that piece, my inbox exploded. It turns out that a lot of people are working on this exact concept right now.
