The new system is described as a pre-qualified pallet shipper that delivers more than five days of validated thermal protection.

It offers a payload capacity in the range of 558 to 596 litres and can accommodate more than 300lb of dry ice.

Developed for use in life sciences, healthcare and other high-value cold chain logistics, the fibre-based shipper is designed to integrate into standard pallet-handling processes.

It incorporates a patent-pending panel-locking mechanism to minimise edge loss and preserve structural strength during extended and multi-stop temperature-controlled transport.

TempSafe PalletShield forms part of a broader range of kerbside-recyclable solutions covering both parcel and bulk applications.

These solutions are positioned as an alternative to expanded polystyrene (EPS) and polyurethane (PUR) systems, with the aim of reducing waste and simplifying disposal at end of life.

The pallet shipper is aimed at applications such as vaccines, biologics, clinical trial materials, high-value therapies and other products that must remain within specific temperature ranges.

Veritiv said that, as an agnostic supplier of cold chain packaging, it provides customers with options spanning conventional foam materials as well as newer technologies such as vacuum insulated panels (VIP) and phase change materials (PCM).

The TempSafe range, including the PalletShield solution, was developed in response to growing customer demand for sustainable options that maintain the performance their operations require.

Veritiv chief marketing and sustainability officer Chris Bradley stated: “Cold chain teams are asking for solutions that don’t force a compromise between thermal assurance and environmental responsibility. TempSafe PalletShield delivers on that expectation and expands our TempSafe line with a kerbside-recyclable pallet shipper built for real operational pressures.”
