Tjoapack has been providing primary and secondary packaging services for the pharmaceutical sector for more than 35 years.

Its portfolio includes packaging and labelling for oral solid dose products, including blister packs and bottles, as well as sterile injectables such as vials, pre-filled syringes and auto-injectors.

Tjoapack runs facilities in Clinton, Tennessee, US, and Etten-Leur in the Netherlands. It has more than 400 employees and serves over 40 commercial markets worldwide.

Tjoapack CEO Dexter Tjoa said: “This transaction represents an important next chapter for Tjoapack. Partnering with Alcami allows us to accelerate our growth ambitions while staying true to what has made Tjoapack successful – quality, reliability, and a strong focus on our customers.

“Together, we create a more integrated transatlantic platform that enables us to support our partners more effectively as they scale and expand globally.”

Under the transaction, Alcami will add packaging and labelling capacity in the US and Qualified Person release and related services in Europe.

Tjoapack’s customers are also set to gain access to Alcami’s other operations, including pharmaceutical testing laboratories, sterile and oral solid dose drug product manufacturing, and GMP pharmaceutical storage.

The deal is expected to be completed in the second quarter of this year, contingent on the fulfilment of customary closing conditions.

Alcami CEO and chairman Patrick Walsh commented: “This acquisition marks our first European expansion, which is an essential element of our investment strategy to expand our presence in the global market.

“Furthermore, this increased scale aligns with our growth and expansion in pharmaceutical testing lab services, drug product manufacturing and pharma storage service offerings at Alcami.”

Earlier this year, Tjoapack expanded operations at its Etten-Leur site by installing a new automated production line to increase its capacity for oral solid dose bottle packaging.
