Stora Enso has expanded its suite of carton board products with the launch of Performa Lumi, a new GC1 folding boxboard (FBB).
The product is manufactured at the company’s BM6 packaging facility in Oulu, Finland, and extends the existing Performa range, which includes Performa Nova.

The new board is designed to serve sectors such as beauty, personal care, and healthcare packaging.
Performa Lumi is made from CTMP [chemi-thermomechanical pulp] and features a coating on both sides, including a lightly coated reverse.
According to the company, the board offers high whiteness and print quality, with a smooth surface. It is suited for situations where both shelf appearance and reliability are priorities.
The production process uses FiberLight Tec, Stora Enso’s technology that is designed to produce boards that are lightweight yet strong.
Stora Enso notes that Performa Lumi is built to handle various stresses involved in printing and conversion, addressing the needs of demanding packaging applications.
The board complies with industry standards for direct food contact, odour, and taste.
Available in weights from 205gsm to 310gsm, it also provides high stiffness and efficiency across different packaging designs.
The company said that with this development, it continues to address renewable material packaging needs, supporting the industry’s move towards more circular solutions.

Last month, Stora Enso partnered with Krekelberg Flock Products and Flocktechniek–C&B Innovations to develop a flocked version of its Papira wood foam material.
This process gives the material a three-dimensional structure with a velvet-like texture.
