Flint Group launches new white inks for shrink sleeves

Flint Group has introduced EkoCure XS shrink white inks, expanding its UV LED dual-curing flexo ink options.

The new inks are developed to provide a stable, smooth white base on shrink-sleeve packaging without cracking or flaking, according to the company.

Designed for compatibility with both UV and UV LED curing presses, these inks aim to simplify the printing process for converters. Flint Group recommends that the total thickness of printed ink layers does not surpass 15 bcm [billion cubic microns] to achieve optimal performance.

The company points out that the new product may help converters reduce time and waste during production by eliminating the need to remove ink in standard tape or crinkle tests.

For best results in terms of shrink performance, opacity and friction, Flint Group advises using a combination of first and second down white layers.

The EkoCure XS shrink whites are available to customers in North America and can be used alongside other inks in the Flint Group range.

Flint Group North America R&D technology manager Rob Stendahl said: “With our EkoCure XS shrink whites, we’re removing uncertainty from the most challenging part of shrink sleeve production.

“This new formulation is designed to resist these challenges and deliver a glossy, durable finish that keeps branded graphics looking their best.

“These new EkoCure XS shrink whites represent our latest step in delivering practical, high-performance inks that work in real production environments, enabling printers to operate with confidence and brands to look flawless on shelf.”

In November 2025, Flint Group announced that its Novasens Prime sheetfed packaging inks and Novaset water-based coatings produced in Europe now meet the composition standards set out by the German Printing Ink Regulation (GIO).
