The Rosarito plant, opened in 2024, specialises in the production of 30×60 aluminium closures and can produce more than 200 million units annually.

The location of the facility offers logistical advantages for serving the North American market, aiming to provide shorter delivery times and improved service to US customers.

Guala Closures has maintained a presence in Mexico since 1979 and also operates a site in Fairfield, North America, both supplying closures to the US wine and spirits industries.

The latest transaction aligns with Guala Closures’ strategy of targeted acquisitions in key markets.

The group’s operations include 40 production sites worldwide and business activity in over 100 countries.

In the year leading up to September 2025, it reported revenue exceeding €936m ($1.1bn) and employed more than 5,000 people.

Guala Closures CEO Andrea Lodetti said: “This investment marks a significant milestone in advancing our growth strategy for the North American wine closures market.

“Establishing a dedicated production site in Mexico, which adds to our existing large plant in San José Iturbide, allows us to be closer to our US customers and respond more effectively to their needs – particularly those of the small and medium-sized winemakers that require a more tailored, local, and flexible supply base. With this transaction, we are also laying the groundwork for further expansions and future growth as we expect demand to continue to increase.”

In July 2025, Guala Closures opened plant in Gartcosh, Scotland, after investing over €60m.
