Amcor has launched a new production line at its Lugo di Vicenza site in Italy, focusing on the manufacture of recyclable, high-barrier films for various packaging needs.
The expanded operation covers nearly 7,000m² and includes equipment for the entire production process, a new quality control laboratory, and an automated warehouse with temperature-controlled areas for material curing.

The facility is intended to meet demand from sectors, including food, beverage, pet food, and healthcare.
One of the products manufactured at the site is designed for applications requiring high-temperature sterilisation.
This development comes as regulations such as the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation require all packaging to be recyclable by 2030.
The updated site is aimed at enabling companies to comply with these rules.
Commenting on the investment, the plant’s general manager Elena Peron said: “This new facility is the result of Amcor’s pledge to develop all our packaging to be recyclable, reusable or compostable.
“This expansion, combined with the Amcor team’s expertise, will support our customers in making the switch to recycle-ready packaging and contribute to a more circular packaging industry.”
Earlier this week, Amcor collaborated with Belgian company De Ceuster Meststoffen (DCM) to introduce a mono-material polyethylene film for fertiliser packaging in Europe.
This new packaging replaces DCM’s earlier multi-material structure, which was unsuitable for recycling through current waste streams.
The updated packs include 35% post-consumer recycled content and are offered in sizes from 650g to 7kg.
