i2r Packaging Solutions appoints new managing director


Aluminium foil trays manufacturer i2r Packaging Solutions has appointed Benito Sala as its new managing director.

Sala steps into the role with more than 20 years of leadership experience across various sectors, including automotive, aerospace, and industrial manufacturing.

He will report to Marco De Lellis, who serves as both CEO of Contital and the Laminazione Sottile (LS) Group Container Division’s managing director.

De Lellis said: “Benito is a proven leader with extensive experience in complex manufacturing environments, having successfully led organisational change and delivered sustainable performance improvements throughout his career.

“His appointment further supports i2r’s leadership as the business continues to build on its strong market position and focus on operational excellence.”

Sala’s appointment follows recent organisational changes at i2r aimed at strengthening internal processes and maintaining its presence in the European food packaging market.

With backing from Contital and the LS Group Container Division, i2r maintains its focus on operations, service standards, and long-term development.

Sala’s previous roles have involved managing organisational change, overseeing complex restructures, and working within manufacturing environments requiring process improvement.

Benito said: “i2r has deep technical expertise, a loyal customer base and the backing of a well-established international group. There is significant opportunity to build on these foundations.

“My focus will be on driving operational discipline, improving collaboration across teams and ensuring we consistently deliver value to our customers.”

i2r manufactures more than 1.2 billion products annually for clients that include major food producers, retail brands, and distributors in regions such as Asia, Australia, Europe, and North and South America.
