ABG launches ThermoLam as part of integrated FlexPack workflow expansion

Leading print finishing equipment manufacturer, A B Graphic International (ABG), has launched ThermoLam, a next-generation thermal laminator designed to deliver faster production, greater agility, and improved sustainability for flexible packaging manufacturers.

Developed to meet increasing demand for more efficient and environmentally responsible processes, ThermoLam operates with zero VOC (volatile organic compounds) emissions, providing a cleaner alternative to traditional lamination technologies. The system is fully food safe and compliant with industry regulations, making it suitable for applications where safety and hygiene are critical.

ThermoLam combines pre-heating, cooling, corona treatment and slitting within a single, compact platform. With maximum mechanical speeds of up to 120 meters per minute and no curing time required, the system enables faster production cycles, reduced waste, and significantly quicker time to market. Its smaller footprint and front-loading roll access further enhance operator efficiency while optimizing factory space.

“Designed for flexibility, ThermoLam supports rapid job changeovers, making it ideal for shorter run lengths and evolving production demands. Advanced servo control technology from Beckhoff ensures precision and consistency throughout the lamination process, while inline cutting streamlines workflow and reduces handling,” ABG notes.

Furthermore, the modular design enables seamless integration with ABG’s broader FlexPack range, including Galaxy pouch-making systems and PouchJet digital embellishment technology, supporting a connected and efficient production environment.

“ThermoLam represents a significant step forward in how converters approach lamination within flexible packaging,” said Matt Burton, global sales director at ABG. “By combining performance, sustainability and ease of use in a compact, modular system, we are enabling customers to move faster, reduce waste and adapt to changing market demands. As part of our wider FlexPack strategy, ThermoLam plays a key role in delivering a fully connected production workflow.”

Supporting the launch, ABG is further strengthening its FlexPack capabilities through its Girona (Spain) facility, which is being established as a Centre of Excellence for flexible packaging. The site will enable customers to experience ThermoLam within a full production workflow, run test jobs using their own materials, and gain practical insights into performance, efficiency and profitability.

ABG will present ThermoLam at interpack 2026 in Düsseldorf (May 7-13), where it will be showcased as part of a complete FlexPack workflow alongside Galaxy Packtech on stand Hall 8a/F49.
