Dow and Delian Group collaborate on sustainable automotive packaging

Materials science company Dow has reached a memorandum of understanding with Guangdong Delian Group to enhance the sustainability of automotive packaging.

The collaboration aims to expand the use of post-consumer recycled (PCR) resins, supporting the industry’s shift towards a more circular economy.

Delian Group has integrated Dow’s REVOLOOP recycled plastics resins into auto care product packaging.

This initiative helps reduce carbon footprint by decreasing the dependency on virgin resins.

Delian Group chair Xu Tuanhua said: “We have been adhering to the business philosophy of energy conservation, emission reduction and a low-carbon environment.

“The strategic partnership with Dow marks significant progress toward a circular economy, further distinguishing Delian Group from competitors in the automotive market and helping us meet the growing global demand for sustainable products.”

The partnership is expected to enhance the application of PCR resins in automotive packaging and drive innovation in redefining waste as a valuable resource.

Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics (P&SP) Asia Pacific commercial vice-president Bambang Candra said: “Embracing sustainable materials can mitigate these issues, offering consumers more environmentally responsible options while promoting a circular economy in automotive services.

“Dow is dedicated to developing innovative solutions for a circular economy and enhancing our REVOLOOP recycled plastics resins portfolio to meet customers’ sustainability needs.”

P&SP, a Dow business unit, is engaged in the production of polyethylene resins, functional polymers, and adhesives.

In August this year, Dow launched two new technology advancements at its Pack Studios in Freeport, Texas, US, expanding its capabilities.
