PT Argha Karya buys first BOBST EXPERT K5 metalliser

PT Argha Karya Prima Industry, an Indonesian company, has purchased the BOBST EXPERT K5 metalliser to enhance its production capabilities.

The company, with a longstanding presence in vacuum metallising, aims to meet the increasing market demand with the installation of the machine in 2025.

The EXPERT K5 machine will be equipped with BOBST’s unique innovations, AluBond and AlOx GEN II, catering to the production of both opaque and transparent ultra-high-barrier biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) and biaxially oriented polyethylene terephthalate (PET) films.

The AluBond process, known for its superior adhesion on various substrates, enhances barrier levels against oxygen and water vapour, facilitating the creation of sustainable films.

The AlOx GEN II technology represents an advancement of the established BOBST AlOx process, which has been producing high-barrier, clear PET films for more than 15 years.

This innovation is designed to manufacture high-barrier, clear BOPP films, aligning with the sustainability trend in the flexible packaging industry.

The films produced using AlOx GEN II are transparent immediately after production and offer strong barrier properties at a reduced optical density.

Established in 1980, PT Argha Karya Prima Industry was reportedly the first BOPP producer in Southeast Asia. It offers flexible packaging films for both industrial and consumer goods.

PT Argha Karya Prima Industry director Elius Pribadi said: “We needed to purchase additional metallisers to meet the increasing demand from our customers, particularly those in highly evolving sustainability packaging.

“We believed our new metalliser from BOBST would help us provide value solutions for the future of sustainability needs. We are now eagerly awaiting the installation of the machine next year and hope this is the start of a long relationship with BOBST.”
