APC names Ray Graham as new CEO and president

Flexible packaging solutions provider American Packaging Corporation (APC) has announced a leadership transition, with Ray Graham taking over as CEO and president, effective 1 January 2025.

The move follows a plan unveiled last month, which outlined the company’s leadership succession.

Graham succeeds Jeff Koch, who retired on 31 December 2024 and has since joined APC’s board of directors.

Graham has been with American Packaging since 2002, where he initially led the company’s Flexographic Printing & Laminating Center of Excellence in Story City, Iowa, US.

His responsibilities included overseeing operations and the business unit’s profit and loss (P&L).

During this tenure, he expanded and modernised manufacturing sites, as well as established two new greenfield sites, and a significant investment in capital equipment and capabilities.

Graham’s role within APC expanded as he was appointed operational vice-president, taking charge of all APC Centers of Excellence and their associated P&Ls.

His tenure in this position was marked by the addition of a third greenfield site and further capital equipment investments.

In 2022, he was promoted to executive vice-president and COO, where his responsibilities grew to include sales, marketing, technical, HR, IT, and other functional areas.

On 1 January 2024, Graham was elevated to the position of president with a clear trajectory to become CEO the following year.

Graham said: “As I step into the role of CEO, I am excited about the future of American Packaging and the unlimited potential for our business.

“I will continue to engage with our valued customers, strategic suppliers, and most importantly our employees, who are the most talented, results-oriented team of professionals in the flexible packaging industry.

“As a family-owned business, APC is unmatched in our continuous investment in capital equipment, technologies, and talented people, that ensure our customers and our future customers that we are the best supplier to partner with them to achieve their packaging goals.”

APC specialises in various printing and lamination techniques and pouch and bag fabrication, catering to diverse packaging requirements. It operates six Centers of Excellence across the US and employs nearly 1,300 people.

Last month, APC launched a recyclable paper packaging solution.
