MSCHF Puts a Ring Pop On It With ‘Rock Candy’

Modern wedding culture has gotten to the point that it’s created a sense of brinkmanship for all the events surrounding not just the big day but every step of the lead-up, too. I partially blame social media, but the proposal story was an entirely separate thing long before smartphones. Still, already nervous-as-hell proposers are looking for unique ways to pop the question, and some turn to the not-so-original idea of hiding the engagement ring in food.

That’s a bad idea for several reasons. First, it’s gross. I feel pretty sure the newly betrothed doesn’t want to put on a greasy ring. Second, hiding rings in food or putting them in a champagne coupe or tulip creates a potential choking hazard and could add an unexpected trip to the emergency room to the special moment.
