Grigeo Packaging installs BOBST‘s machinery for capacity expansion

Lithuanian company Grigeo Packaging has installed a new BOBST EXPERTFOLD 165 folder-gluer to enhance its production capacity.

This machine enables the production of a variety of box types such as six-corner boxes, and is equipped with the ACCUFEED system for precise feeding and high-speed pre-breaking capabilities.

The EXPERTFOLD 165 folder-gluer is the fifth BOBST machine that Grigeo Packaging has installed since 2016.

The folder-gluer complements the existing suite of BOBST equipment at the company’s purpose-built facility near Vilnius, which includes machines for flatbed die-cutting and flexo post-printing.

The new folder-gluer’s 5m-long folding section, complete with crease relief and control devices, is claimed to ensure ‘reliable’ box opening.

An integral feature of the EXPERTFOLD 165 machine is its inline quality control system, ACCUEJECT, which automatically ejects boxes that do not meet the set standards, ensuring that only top-quality products reach the end of the production line.

Grigeo Packaging, which serves numerous large brand owners in the food industry, has also considered the machine’s capability to be configured for e-commerce box production, a growing segment in the packaging industry.

Grigeo Packaging general manager Otonas Valiušis said: “Our existing machinery for multipoint glued boxes reached the limit of its capacity, so we had an urgent need to expand.

“The new BOBST EXPERTFOLD 165 will let us increase the production volume for the Baltics significantly, and in the process, improve the quality of our products.”

“With the rise of online shopping, the quality of the corrugated packaging has become crucial, not only for protecting the product during shipping, but also to enrich the customer experience. Therefore, it’s essential for us that we have the capability to integrate e-commerce modules in near future.”

Grigeo expects the new BOBST machine to double its production capacity of multipoint glued packaging.
