DS Smith earns double recognition in P&G’s Supplier Excellence Awards

DS Smith, a global leader in sustainable fibre-based packaging solutions, has been awarded two Procter & Gamble (P&G) Supplier Excellence Awards for 2024.

The company received recognition for its outstanding performance in both the Feminine & Baby Care and Fabric & Home Care packaging categories.

Every two years, P&G evaluates its vast supplier network, choosing a select group for its Excellence Awards.

Winners are chosen based on a comprehensive assessment that considers quantitative and qualitative data across key performance metrics, highlighting consistent excellence throughout the supplier relationship.

This year, only ten suppliers globally reached the final stage, with DS Smith becoming the first ever to achieve a double win at the event.

“We are thrilled to be recognised for excellence in not just one, but two business categories for sustainable fibre-based packaging solutions for both Feminine & Baby Care as well as Fabric & Home Care, and by two different procurement organisations within P&G,” said Francesco van Westrenen, global customer business unit director, Packaging Division, DS Smith.

The P&G Supplier Excellence Award selection criteria encompass four key themes: Commercial, Operations, Innovation & Sustainability, and Citizenship.

DS Smith’s success across all categories reflects its commitment to exceeding P&G’s expectations in every area.

“Indeed, receiving this P&G Excellence Award is a significant milestone and a reflection of our team’s relentless efforts and dedication to excellence, sustainability, and innovation,” added van Westrenen.

As a company dedicated to advancing the principles of a circular economy, DS Smith’s win aligns perfectly with its company-wide purpose of ‘Redefining Packaging for a Changing World’ and its ‘Now & Next’ sustainability strategy.

Through this ongoing collaboration, both DS Smith and P&G are demonstrably committed to creating a more sustainable packaging future.
