Yorkshire Packaging Systems Now Stocking 98% Recycled Content

Yorkshire Packaging Systems (YPS) is now stocking a 98% recycled content, fully recyclable PE (polyethylene) flexible film, used for shrink wrapping and bagging applications.

“This new material contains the highest level of recycled content of any flexible film on the market,” stated Josh Gibson, YPS Sales Director. “For our customers, this means a reduced environmental footprint by virtually removing the use of virgin material. Not only that, but due to the film’s high quality, the material thickness can be reduced, lowering overall plastic use by up to, and sometimes more than, 15%.”

The flexible film is a specific blend of high-grade recycled materials and is available in a wide range of sizes to cover a vast array of applications. It is also available in a choice of colors or can be printed in up to 12 colors for enhanced branding or to create impactful marketing messages.

Independently accredited

While the market is awash with self-accredited greenwashing claims, this material holds two independent certifications which validate its sustainable qualities:

  • ISCC PLUS certification from the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) System. This certification scheme supports the circular economy by validating the sustainability characteristics of the supply chain and confirming that producers comply with clearly defined sustainability standards.
  • The Plastica Seconda Vita (Plastic Second Life) certification from the Italian-Based IPPR (Institute for the Promotion of Recycled Plastics). This certifies the recycled nature of the source materials of the product, with a focus on the quality and traceability of those materials.

“As a supplier of both equipment and materials for automated packaging processes, YPS is ideally placed to advise our customers on how their whole packaging system can be designed to reduce material consumption or use more sustainable materials to achieve their own sustainability goals,” commented Gibson.

All of the materials supplied by YPS are 100% recyclable and many are available with significant recycled content. The company has also recently announced its mission to achieve Net Zero by 2035.
