NCBC launches Red Seal Ale and PranQster in cans for first time

North Coast Brewing Company (NCBC), a US-based brewery, has introduced its Ruedrich’s Red Seal Ale and PranQster Belgian Style Golden Ale in 12oz cans, marking a key shift for the brand.

Originally bottled in 1988 and 1995, respectively, Red Seal Ale and PranQster are seen as cornerstone offerings in NCBC’s portfolio.

The transition to cans follows the installation of the brewery’s first in-house canning line, enabling enhanced quality control, improved freshness, and greater accessibility for consumers nationwide.

The new canning line provides full oversight of the packaging process, ensuring consistency and efficiency while preserving the integrity of the brewery’s time-honoured recipes.

The initiative also supports NCBC’s commitment to sustainability.

In conjunction with the canning launch, NCBC has adopted Eco-Rings, a fully compostable alternative to plastic can holders.

Crafted from natural plant fibres, Eco-Rings break down in both home and commercial composting environments, leaving behind no harmful microplastics.

NCBC CFO and CEO Jennifer Owen said: “These beers have been with us since the early days.

“Canning them for the first time is not just a packaging update – it’s a celebration of their legacy and a way to bring them to more people in a more convenient package. We’re proud to pair this historic canning release with a packaging innovation that reflects our values. Eco-Rings are a step forward for the planet and for craft beer.”
